Kaan was born in the UK, raised in Turkey, and has called Toronto home since 2016. What began as a child's awe at historical landmarks has since taken him through more than 40 countries and settled into portrait and documentary work. He holds a BA and MA from the University of Toronto, where he first started asking the questions his photographs keep returning to: identity, heritage, community.
